T'winkle Vendor Feature - Wrapsody reDesigns

Howdy Folks!

I don't know about you, but I am officially excited about the T'winkle Market!  Seeing all these incredibly creative people put their own unique spin on making and designing wearable, useable, beautiful things to make life more interesting is refreshing and invigorating.

Kind of like that Spring sunshine we had the other day...

Have you ever met someone, loved their style so much, and asked them, "Where'd you get that top/skirt/bag/necklace/etc?"

Yeah, T'winkle Market is going to be OVERFLOWING with those people.  You can meet a bunch of them all in one day!  (It might be a bit too exciting, and too overwhelming for some, but you can have a breather in the foyer if you get verklempt).

Your support of local designers, makers, crafters, and artists ensures that they can continue doing what they love and sharing that creative process with all of us.  Yes, you can make a
wonderful, positive difference and it's simple!

Make a date with some people you love to laugh and have a good time with (how about your sweet little mom!?), and come on down to the Ambrosia Event Centre this Saturday, April 18th!

Vendor Feature #6

Wrapsody reDesigns

Who are you?
Bogna McCaffery --  fashion designer and creative force that just doesn't stop!

What do you create?
I create handmade, sexy and unique garments made out of vintage silk scarves, and recycled clothing and fabric.  Custom orders available -- just bring me your scarf or boyfriend's favourite t-shirt and pick the design.

What are three words that best describe your work?
Innovative, one-of-a-kind, funky.

What inspires you?
My beautiful friends, lush bright colours, geometric designs, 70's shapes, vintage clothing, and exploring thrift stores.

How long have you been creating?
I have been altering and re-creating my own clothing since I was very young.  My mom and my grandmother had a clothing line company when I was a kid.  Thus, I was always surrounded by fabrics, sewing machines, and trims.  I started using my passion to make clothes for others about six years ago.

T'winkle Market Update -- The Facebook Event Page

And who of you isn't on facebook?!?!

We don't discriminate -- lots of people aren't on facebook.

But there are plenty who are on it, and probably while they should be working, too (you know who you are...)

For those that do use the 'book to keep up with friends, stay in touch with old high school pals, and post goofy pictures from Mexican vacations, here's a link for you to the Official T'winkle Market facebook event page!

Be sure to add yourself to the group, and say hello to Vanessa and Gabrielle, the delightful and caring mods of the group.

Hope you all had a relaxing and happy long weekend!

T'winkle Vendor Feature - Norma Castillo

Hello.  Well, well, well.  Here we are again.  We really should stop meeting like this.

I know!  Why don't we meet at T'winkle Market, under the soft lights, with the beautiful music in the background, and with all the shimmering jewellry lighting up our eyes...

*********************************************************************************

Vendor Feature #5

Norma Castillo

Who are you?
Norma Lake Castillo, EarthWorks

What do you create?
I do make stoneware pottery, but at the moment my focus is on stonewear; knitted silver and gemstone jewellry and pure silver creations from precious metal clay.

What inspires you?
I am inspired by textures, flowers, stones, and serendipity.

What are your favourite materials to use?
Precious metal clays, fossils, seed pods, and gems.

What creative things do you want to learn or try next?
I would like to try more combinations of metals, and miniature collages.

T'winkle Vendor Feature - Labyrinth Leather Craft

Hello again!  Here we go with one week left until the first ever T'winkle Market!

Sounds like it's time for another vendor feature so you can get a little taste of what clever creations will be in store for all of us come April 18th!

********************************************************************************

Vendor Feature #4

Labyrinth Leather Craft

Who are you?
I am Labyrinth Leather Craft.  More specifically,
Amanda Bennett...more like a weird genetic hybrid
of the two.  My business has "become" me.

What do you create?
Leather goods with a strong
focus on cuffs, belts and wallets.

What creative thing do you want to learn
or try next?
Smithing of one form or another.  Leather work
and leather dye has removed all pretense
of keeping my hands dirt free.

When you are not creating, what do you
like to do?
I enjoy a spot of apartment gardening.
For me it is a vicious process of planting,
nurturing, playing god, and then having
the poor things die on me.  It is strangely
theraputic.

What music do you like to listen to while
creating?
I kinda enter nirvana when I'm creating, but if I had to fathom a guess then the music of Cirque De Soleil
and Delirium.

Welcome to the T'winkle Market Blog!

Vanessa (of Isadora Clothing) and Gabrielle (of Delilah Squid ) came up with the idea to create a vendor & artisan showcase that wasn't a Winter Market and wasn't a Summer Market, but something to fill those months between the two.

The idea was nurtured along with the goal of helping those creative types get out of their workrooms/garages/basements/crafty spaces and share their talent with each other, and with the community at large.

Geared toward new and seasoned vendors, as well as featuring a wide variety of creative disciplines, the T'winkle Market is shaping up to be a sparkling way to welcome Spring!

***********************************************************

Things are a~buzz around here as we gather vendor applications, plot out the space, and organize all the details to make this first ever T'winkle Market in come to life!

We've secured a wonderful venue for the market -- The Ambrosia Event Centre located in beautiful downtown Victoria at 638 Fisgard Street. It's a spacious, elegant room that will suit the T'winkle Market perfectly!

Stay tuned for more updates about the T'winkle Market Shopping Spree Contest, as well as profiles on the artists who will be showing & selling their work at T'winkle Market!

Update:
Due to an amazing community response, Vendor Applications are now closed for this T'winkle Market.  Thank you!  To be considered for future T'winkle Market events, e-mail: twinklemarket@hotmail.com
